Walking on Tinos
3. Pirgos, Panormos, Isternia - "A planet at Sea and
marble Villages"
|
|
In the morning we take the bus to Pirgos.
During our journey we have marvellous views over the Aegean
Sea and the neighbouring islands Syros and Jaros. Pirgos is
one of the biggest villages on Tinos famous for its marble sculptures.
In the shadow of the old plain tree on the main square we can
enjoy some coffee and local sweets.
An hour's walk will take us to Panormos once the most important
harbour of Tinos. At one of the little seaside taverns we will
have lunch.
A short bus ride is going to take us to Isternia from where
we start our descent to Ormos Isternion. A late afternoon swim
at a beautiful beach next to this picturesque village awaits
us, a perfect finish for the day. A transfer in to town follows. |
